San Diego River Park Foundation Garden
On January 23, 2014 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, five Devil Duckies went to the San Diego River Park Foundation Garden to maintain and clean the garden of native plants. We replenished the much of native plants while also learning about these plants and local animals that use these plants to live. This is a way for us to help our community and the native plants and animals that live there
Texting and Driving Campaign
On February 7, 2014 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, four Devil Duckies set up and held a texting and driving campaign called “Stop the Texts Stop the Wrecks” at our school, Madison High School. During lunch we had students and staff members place their thumbprints on a banner to pledge not to text and drive. We also made a PSA to show during our school’s weekly broadcast.
On February 14, 2014 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, five Devil Duckies setup the gym at Madison High School for the FTC Championship to be held the next day at our school. We laid down VEX tiles for the floor, and set up practice and match fields.
On February 15, 2014 from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm, fifteen Devil Duckies hosted and volunteered at the FTC Championships at Madison High School. We did various jobs including resetting and running fields, registration, pit admin, queuing, and software inspection.
Feeding America Food Sorting
On February 22, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, eight Devil Duckies went to the Feeding America San Diego sorting warehouse to sort through food donated by local stores. We helped get food to families and kids in need by sorting it into acceptable and unacceptable piles.
Hot Chocolate 15k Race
On March 23, 2014 from 5:45 am to 11:30 am, six devil duckies volunteered at Hot Chocolate 15k Race in Downtown San Diego. We helped hand out mugs and hot chocolate to runners once they finished running the race.
Horizon Youth Program Demonstration
On June 26, 2014 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, three Devil Duckies members went to Horizon Youth Program summer camps to demonstrate our Aerial Assist 2014 robot. While there they played a relay game with the campers, racing against time. The members told kids about F.I.R.S.T., our team, and how they can get involved.
